Early Childhood Student Assistance Team Coordinator, Brad Bergeson
Brad assists families with young children who have social, emotional, or behavioral delays but are not in special education. He plans interventions tailored to meet the specific concerns of the child to ensure that every effort is made to help the youngster come to school ready to learn.
He uses his skills as a certified therapist to create a trusting partnership with caregivers and uses a team approach to seeking solutions for children and parents.
Early Childhood Outreach Nurse, Jeanne Gill
Jeanne Gill joined Cardinal Connections as the first point of contact from the schools to families with newborns. She completes well baby checks, and addresses questions regarding health and child development.
Jeanne disperses Early Childhood Resource Guides to parents. A copy is available online. Click here to access.
Jeanne takes an active role in the early childhood developmental screens, makes home visits, and provides referrals to other medical entities to assist parents of young children.
Cardinal Preschool serves a targeted population of youngsters from the South Sioux City Community School District. For 2008-09, applications will be taken for any 4 year old child in the district. Cardinal Preschool classrooms are located at the Siouxland Family Center and at the Cardinal Elementary School. Spaces are limited so please complete the application process as soon as possible. First Teacher is a interstate effort of Siouxland United Way to promote pre-literacy skills within the family unit.
