Family Emergency Planning Resources

Family Disaster Plan

All families should have a disaster plan that prepares family members and pets to respond to a crisis or natural disaster.  Good sources of information include the websites for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, American Public Health, The National Disaster Coalition, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  Links to these websites are listed below.

United States Department of Homeland Security created a series of web documents on emergency preparedness.  It has a Ready Campaign that encourages individuals to take three simple steps to prepare: get an emergency supply kit , make a family emergency plan , and be informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.  The set of three documents can be found on these three websites:

How to get a kit prepared is described here, http://www.ready.gov/america/getakit/index.html

Assistance on making a family plan can be found in this document
