South Sioux City has six SAT Coordinators who work with students referred for one of the following reasons:
Academic concerns
Classroom behavior problems
Poor attendance records
Students dismissed from special education
Mental health issues, social or emotional challenges
Alcohol, tobacco or drug use
Physical or health-related issues
SAT process is designed to support students and teachers to assist in finding appropriate interventions for these students so that school-related difficulties are addressed. The SAT Coordinator also pulls together a problem solving SAT team to review the documentation on previous accommodations attempted to identify interventions for the future. SAT team members include parents, administration, school staff, and support personnel.
The SAT interventions are tracked and monitored by the coordinators, and student progress is reported back to the team. When necessary, new interventions are introduced. The students assistance process is recorded on a password secured dataweb.
Any teacher, parents, concerned adult, or students themselves may make a referral by completing information on a referral form or by contacting one of the SAT coordinators listed below. Referral Form

Toni Ray- Christensen, the senior member of the SAT Team Coordinators has the experience of ten years in this position. Her background includes K-6 behavior consultant, BD teacher, resource/BD, and liaison to Opportunity School . She currently serves Covington and Lewis & Clark Schools contact # 494-4238 or 494-1917. Brad Bergeson
Brad Bergeson has been a counselor and administrator of human services programs serving children and adults. He is now assigned the SAT coordination for preschool children, working from the Siouxland Family Center .Brad enjoys helping families get the services they need to solve problems and make success in kindergarten more likely.
